It’s the dead of winter in the U.S., but Ariana Grande fashionably reminded us that spring is coming. The Wicked actress attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Sunday, wearing a pink Armani Privé ball gown with flowers adorned on the bodice and skirt. Her blonde hair was styled in a slick bun, and she accessorized with silver statement earrings. Her outfit was very Glinda:
Grande has two major awards show appearances left this season: the SAG Awards on February 23 and the Oscars on March 2. Her work as Glinda in Wicked has earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at both shows.
Grande spoke to Variety about her reaction to her first-ever Oscar nod. She touched on what an honor it is, especially since her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, got a Best Actress nomination as well.
“It feels like such a magnificent celebration of this hard work that we were able to do together,” she said. “It feels like we were passed the wand and broom by Kristin [Chenoweth] and Idina Menzel, [who were the original Glinda and Elphaba on Broadway]. They were nominated for the Tonys together, and now Cynthia and I get to have this recognition together.”
The outlet asked whether an Oscar nomination felt better than a Grammy nod. Grande, who skipped this year’s Grammys in part because her album Eternal Sunshine was shut out of the show’s biggest categories, replied with a laugh. “Oh my goodness,” she said. “I’m burying my head in my tissue box. Um… next question.”
