Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ family is speaking out in an interview for the first time since his tragic death.

In a preview of an interview with CBS Mornings, the family of the beloved dancer and TV personality sat down with Gayle King out for the first time since his suicide in December 2022. His mother, Connie Boss Alexander, and younger brother, Dre Rose, opened up about their grief and their feelings about the release of tWitch’s wife, Allison Holker’s memoir, which has stirred up significant public attention.

During the emotional interview, Dre expressed his disappointment over the public nature of the launch of Holker’s memoir, specifically the way the promotion was handled in the media.

“I think people deserve the ability to share their story. I get that,” he said, but added, “But to how it was presented and how it was on the cover of a magazine and there was a public, you know, launch or campaign about it, we shouldn’t have to find out about that on in the media. We’re a family.” The comment was met with understanding from King, who asked, “And that’s how you found out about it?” to which Dre confirmed, “Correct.”

When asked if they had any interest in reading the journals that Holker references in her book, both Connie and Dre expressed curiosity but also a sense of unease. “I think so, just to feel closer to him, ’cause these are his thoughts,” Connie said. “Maybe get a clearer understanding… you know, of who he was and what he was thinking from time to time.”

Dre, however, had a more critical perspective on the way the journals have been presented to the public. “I would love to see all of the journals in its entirety,” he said. “I think there’s things in those journals that are good and bad, but I also believe there’s journals about his personal life, his marital life that are in there.” Dre added, “I feel, believe that there’s been a cherry-picking of things from the journal to reveal or share. And if we’re just gonna be completely honest, talk about it all.”

tWitch’ cousin Elle has also spoken out following the release of Holker’s interviews, specifically one with People from early January that revealed she found a “cornucopia” of drugs in their closet. Elle criticized Holker’s portrayal of tWitch on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “He wasn’t an addict… he smoked weed and was actively trying to quit.” She also revealed that the family was forced to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) just to attend tWitch’s funeral.

The full interview will air on CBS Mornings Tuesday, February 11 at 7 a.m. on CBS.
