Travis Kelce Said It’s a ‘Great Honor’ to Have Trump at the Super Bowl

Well, that’s not the answer anyone was expecting. Asked how he feels about President Trump attending the Super Bowl on February 9, Travis Kelce expressed nothing but positive feelings about the idea.

“That’s awesome,” Kelce told reporters. “It’s a great honor. No matter who the president is. I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know. Having the president there…it’s the best country in the world. It’ll be pretty cool.”

This answer from Kelce is surprising for several reasons. For one thing, he is very publicly dating Taylor Swift, who has very publicly denounced Trump. After Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president in September, Trump told Fox News, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time.… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Now, Swifties are reacting to Kelce embracing Trump’s attendance at the Super Bowl. Commenters on Instagram predicted things like, “Taylor wouldn’t approve of this comment,” and pointed out, “It’s still unbelievable that the president of the United States once proclaimed ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!’” (Yes, that really did happen.)

Users on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) felt similarly. One tweeted that Kelce’s response was “so disappointing” and made them feel “so sad” and “icky.” Others responded with anger, tweeting things like, “I understand HE cannot bash the president but calling it an ‘honor’!?? after all that man and his party have done/said to taylor!??? bffr,” and “his answer shows he doesn’t care about how Trump attacked Taylor. But he’s a narcissist so I’m not surprised.” Many others simply called him a “loser.”
