When celebrities reach a certain age, fans begin to fear the reasons why their names might be trending on social media. Iconic country star Dolly Parton served as an example of this phenomenon on Tuesday, February 4 when her name began trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The reason the 79-year-old’s name was making headlines was because Sabrina Carpenter announced that she would be recording an extended version of her hit song, “Please Please Please,” with Parton. Many fans of the iconic singer took to the platform to express their relief, however, as they feared she might have been trending because she had died.

Another X user wrote, “I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw Parton trending.”
