Jack Whitehall has revealed that his friendship with Prince Harry cooled off after the Royal began his romance with Meghan Markle.
The 36 year old comedian reminisced about his past camaraderie with the now-40 year old Prince on Nova 100’s Jase and Lauren radio show, admitting they were “quite good friends” before Harry met Meghan in 2016. Whitehall described the Duke as a “terror” in his younger days but noted their connection waned once he was smitten with the former ‘Suits’ star.
Whitehall shared: “I’ve come into contact with a couple of [the royals] in the past. I was quite good friends with Harry back in the day. Pre-Meghan, when he was a terror.”
He humorously confessed: “I was dropped.”
When quizzed about whether he was present during Harry’s infamous Las Vegas escapade where he was snapped in the nude, Whitehall clarified he missed out on the “naked billiards” but did enjoy “a few nights outs” with the Prince, who was “quite fun” at the time.
He replied: “No annoyingly, I wasn’t there for the naked billiards. But I had a few nights out with him… I mean, I wasn’t, I wouldn’t say it part of the inner circle, to go back to a Vegas analogy. But no, I had a few nights out with him when he was quite fun.”
In a lighter note, Prince William, Harry’s elder brother, once poked fun at Whitehall’s comedic style, suggesting his jokes were akin to those of a dad.
During a school visit in April, the 42 year old heir apparent joked: “I’ve been asked to produce a dad joke, so I’m kind of trying to channel Jack Whitehall, most of his jokes are pretty dad-like.”
Jack took to social media to express his astonishment: “An outrageous shading from the future King.”
The comedian and his model partner Roxy Horner were overjoyed to welcome their first child, a daughter named Elsie, in September 2023. Known for his wit, Jack once humorously compared his newborn’s nappies to the aftermath of “five pints of Guinness and a kebab” following a night out.
Accompanying a self-portrait of himself, fatigued with closed eyes and a placard reading “Shhh I’m sleepy” held in his mouth, the fresh father captioned on Instagram: “Can’t believe I’m only two weeks into this.”
He continued joking about his parenting observations: “Also every morning I see these nappy’s and think did someone sneak in last night and give my daughter five pints of Guinness and a kebab? (sic)”.
